The Chadron State College softball team fell to 0-10 on the season in an 8-1 loss to Missouri Southern State University on Sunday morning at the University of Central Oklahoma, concluding the Edmond Regional.

CSC batted its season high average of .310, for the third time in 10 games, but scored only once, on a throwing error by MSSU in the top of the fourth.

The Lions were already up 4-0 when the Eagles finally got on the board, thanks to an error, two free bases, a double and a single in the bottom of the first. MSSU tacked on one run in the fifth on a bases-loaded hit batter, and hit safely three times, taking one more free base, in a three-run sixth inning.

MSSU received three walks and four hit-by-pitch bases in six innings.

Tia Kohl was assessed the loss, for her seventh of the season, while Avery Tallman improved to 2-1 for the Lions.

Freshman left fielder Aliyah Rothstein led the Eagles in the batter’s box, hitting three singles in four at-bats. Freshman designated player Lauren Zimmerman went 2-for-3.

For the weekend, Rothstein batted 8-of-17 to lead CSC, while Sloane Quijas was 7-for-15.

Chadron State opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on Saturday, at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
