Eileen Mesteth

Graveside services for 52-year old Eileen Mesteth are Friday, November 27, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Mediator Episcopal Cemetery near Kyle, SD, with Lay Minister Anthony Wounded Head officiating.

A viewing service was held Monday morning, Nov 23, 2020, at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, followed by cremation

Eileen Cheryl Mesteth was born on October 19, 1968 in Pine Ridge, SD to Daniel Joseph Mesteth and Florence (Eagle Heart) Mesteth.  Eileen made her journey to the Spirit World on November 16, 2020 at the age of 52 when her life slowly slipped away at the Cheyenne Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY.

In her early childhood years were spent within the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  Due to her father’s occupation, they had to relocate to places where her father had to work. 

 Eileen had two sisters, Tracy L. Mesteth and Marlene C. Mesteth; one brother, Wendell E. Mesteth; two step-sisters, Linda L. Mesteth and Wildene D. Mesteth; three step-brothers, Manuel I. Mesteth, Marty A. Mesteth, and Rodney Mesteth.  

Eileen attended Our Lady of Lourdes School in Porcupine, SD and graduated from Crow Creek Jr. High School in Stephan, SD, Flandreau Indian School, Flandreau, SD, and graduated from Little Wound High School in Kyle, SD, and graduated from United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND.  She worked at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND and Pejuta Haka College Center in Kyle, SD.

Eileen did volunteer work by helping animal rescue units and took care of dogs and cats and found them homes.  She was a supporter of The Guardians, in which her son, Jerrold D. is a member.  One of her favorite past times is traveling with her family.  Eileen also enjoyed doing a lot of arts and crafts, and beadworks.  

Eileen was preceded in death by her father, Daniel J. Mesteth; paternal grandfather, Gabriel Mesteth, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Susie Red Horn-White Crow; grandmother, Lema Bear Tail-Lays Hard; grandfather, Noah Eagle Heart; Mary Ann Witt, Theresa Mesteth, Gabriel Mesteth, Orlin Mesteth, Milton J. Mesteth, Sr., Rosalyn Spotted Eagle (Eagle Heart), Ramona Spotted Eagle, Delores Little Bull (Eagle Heart), Juliann Two Crow (Packed), Diane Packed, and Wilmer Mesteth, and numerous relatives.  

Eileen C. Mesteth is survived by her children, Jerrold D. Mesteth, Jared J. Mesteth, Jarett M. Mesteth, Jayden M. Williams, and Jaylon D. Williams.  

Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives, Pine Ridge Hospital Staff and Workers, The Guardians, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Staff and Workers, and Creators Fellowship Members.
