Elenita Veree Stroxtile

Funeral services for 82-year old Elenita Veree Stroxtile will be Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Rapid City, SD with social distancing being practiced and Father Henrique Fleming officiating.

Burial services will be at the Pine Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Rapid City.

Elenita Veree (Prairie Chicken) Stroxtile was born on September 6, 1937 in Allen, SD to Solomon and Christine (Weston) Prairie Chicken. Elenita made her journey home on May 17, 2020 at her residence in Rapid City, SD

Elenita was the only daughter out of six siblings. As a young woman, she moved to Rapid City with her family. When she was young, she loved to ride horses. Elenita’s love of music also taught her children to appreciate the same passion.

She earned her (CNA) certification in Louisville, KY and in Rapid City.

She loved to travel. One of the many places she visited was Europe including Germany, Paris, France, and Czechoslovakia.

Elenita was one of the best cooks that you could have ever imagined. She loved to cook homemade pies, cakes, casseroles, and anything you name she made it.

She loved her family dearly and raised four children: Wayne Klick, Michelle Klick, Stephanie Stroxtile, and Terry Stroxtile. She also helped raise her nieces and nephews: Sam Prairie Chicken, Christine (Narvaez) Prairie Chicken, Micah Prairie Chicken, and Lindsay (Elkins) Prairie Chicken.

Elenita is survived by her four children and brothers Lonnie Prairie Chicken, Darrell Prairie Chicken, and Larry (Marilyn) Prairie Chicken. Her surviving grandchildren are Michael Boyd, Andrew Boyd, and Kelly Klick. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and great grandchildren.

Elenita was preceded in death by her father, Solomon Prairie Chicken; mother, Christine (Weston) Prairie Chicken; brothers, Kenneth Prairie Chicken and Melbert (Prairie Chicken) Siyo; adopted brother, James “Jay” Ryerson Prairie Chicken; grandson, Stephen Boyd; and granddaughter, Christina Boyd.

Pallbearers will be, Wayne Klick, Kelly Klick, Michael Boyd, Andrew Boyd, Sam Prairie Chicken, Micah Prairie Chicken, and Daeson Prairie Chicken.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
