Educational Service Unit #13 has moved its Sidney office to the new wing of the Western Nebraska Community College satellite campus and is selling its old office in an online auction tonight at 7:10 PM during the ESU-13 board’s regular meeting.
ESU 13 Administrator Andrew Dick says there’s no need to keep the old office on Toledo Street, so the board decided to sell and use the proceeds for regular operations and special projects. The minimum bid is $130,000.
Bidders for tonight’s auction can attend in person at ESU-13’s main offices on Avenue I in Scottsbluff or via ZOOM, but Dick says ZOOM participants need to call the ESU in advance to get the link.
A second online auction through Kraupie’s Real Estate and Auctioneers will be held next month for the furniture and surplus equipment from the old offices. Any that doesn’t sell will be offered to school districts and other partners of ESU 13.
Dick says the Toledo Street site had grown too small for the ESU’s Sidney operations, thanks to its unprecedented growth in staff and programs over the past several years.
The board and administration considered a number of options, including upgrading and expanding at Toledo Street as well as building new, when the 10,000 square foot addition at WNCC became available.
Dick says it has office space, conference rooms, and a badly-needed distance learning classroom but also allows the ESU to share the new WNCC garage.
