Fernando Gary Acuña was born on December 11, 2001 in Tucson, AZ to Fernando Juan Acuña and Vanessa Eve Lester-Valdez. Fernando made his journey to the Spirit World on October 26, 2020 in Rapid City, SD.

Fernando attended school in the Rapid City area and had so many plans for college. He loved spending time with his family and was so happy being a first-time uncle. He always said, “Family comes first” and never once hung up the phone without saying, “I love you”.

Nando also enjoyed fishing and playing football; his favorite team was the Steelers. He liked watching movies, playing video games, and listening to music.

Fernando’s smile lit up the room. He always made people laugh and was always respectful. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. His love for everyone has left a lasting impression that no one will ever forget. May his soul rest in peace and may he watch over us forever. He will never be forgotten.

Fernando is survived by his mother, Vanessa Lester-Valdez of Rapid City, SD; father, Fernando J. Acuña of Tucson, AZ; sister, Reyna Lester of Sturgis, SD; brothers, Alex Valdez, Tyler Vickerman and Beau Vickerman, all of Rapid City, SD; uncle, Joseph Kieninger of Sturgis, SD; and nephew, Giovanni Parlier of Sturgis, SD.
