Fireworks Injury At State Recreation Area Near Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Game and Parks says a 34-year-old Exeter man was seriously injured Friday at Branched Oak State Recreation area near Lincoln when fireworks exploded in his hands.

As of Saturday, he was in serious, but stable condition.

Game and Parks says the accident occurred about 10:20 p.m. when the man tried to set off a mortar-style firework while holding it near his chest.

He sustained injuries to his chest, arms and hands, and was taken by rescue squad to Bryan West Medical Center. The incident is under investigation by Game and Parks.
