CHADRON – Today is the first day of the new school year for teachers and staff in the Chadron Public Schools as they report for in-service training and other preparations for the start of classes.
Students were scheduled to begin with half-days both Thursday and Friday, but at the recommendation of public health officials Superintendent Ginger Meyer revised the calendar to start with full day sessions next Monday.
The Chadron School Board is expected to approve that and other adjustments to the start of school when it meets tonight in regular session at 5:30 in the district board room on the west side of Chadron High School. The meeting will also be offered as a zoom video conference.
The agenda is lengthy, but light with action on a large number of policies with the nearly all the changes minor housekeeping to reflect changes in state statute or to add the coronavirus virus to policies dealing with infections and pandemics.
