Five More COVID-19 Deaths In The Panhandle

 Panhandle Unified Command reported 5 more COVID-19 related deaths on Friday, including a Sheridan County man in his 90s.

That brings the death total in the Panhandle to 47 and in Sheridan County to 4 – all this week.

     There were also 130 new cases and 154 recoveries as the number of active cases dropped to 2,343 including 82 who are hospitalized, 3 fewer than on Thursday.

       The Panhandle has now had 5,212 total cases with 2,822 recoveries and 47 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

       Dawes County had 4 new cases and 12 recoveries as the number of active cases dropped for 72. The county has had 437 total cases, 355 recoveries, and 10 deaths.     

      Sheridan County has 53 active cases and 4 deaths, Box Butte County 130 active cases and 3 deaths, while Sioux County still 4 active and 16 total cases with 1 death.

     Chadron State College had no new cases while 5 students recovered, leaving 13 active cases – all but 2 of them students. CSC has had 128 total cases including 105 students. 

       The Chadron Public Schools still have 29 total cases and only 2 active ones – 1 each at the high school and middle school – and 9 quarantines.
