Flu Cancels School In Minatare

MINATARE – The flu is continuing to ravage parts of Nebraska, including the Panhandle.

The Minatare schools have cancelled classes for today with Superintendent Tim Cody saying roughly 20% of the student body and a growing number of staff members under the weather.

Cody says the hope is that by taking an extra day, everybody can get well over the long weekend and have classes resume on Monday. He also says the district maintenance staff ran ran ‘sick bombs’ last week in both buildings and is doing a thorough scrub down today.

The flu has been rampant throughout the North Platte Valley recently with Potter-Dix and Leyton both having cancelled school in the past few weeks due to similar levels of flu activity.
