The coronavirus pandemic has claimed another annual event in our area. Fort Robinson State Park has canceled its annual historical Christmas dinner.
This would have been the 26th year for the dinner, which uses an actual Christmas dinner menu from Fort Robinson’s days as an active military post and usually helps kick off the holiday season in early December.
Also canceled is a Halloween event, “The Haunting of Fort Robinson,” but park staff is planning for the return of both events in 2021.
Despite those cancellations, Fort Robinson will hold its annual “Light Up the Fort” program, which has community groups and volunteers decorate and light many of the park buildings for the holiday season.
For more information about that Light Up the Fort is available by calling Fort Robinson at 308-665-2900 or emailing ngpc.fortrobinson@nebraska.gov.
