Funeral services for 35-year old Frank Red Bear are Tues, March 8, 2022 at 1:00 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen, SD, with Father Ron Seminara, S.J., and Pastor Tim Wardell officiating.

Burial is at St John’s Catholic Cemetery in Allen

A one-night wake service starts Monday, March 7, at 4:00 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen

Frank Cecil Red Bear was born on March 23, 1980 in Pine Ridge, S.D to Susann Red Bear and Elroy Cross. Frank begin his journey to the spirit world on February 28, 2022 in Rapid City, S.D

Frank’s favorite hobby and what he loved doing most was fishing. He would walk to the dam if he had to and sometimes stay up all night there. 

He enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with family and friends. He instantly became friends with those he met.

Frank loved building things with whatever he could find, loved making different crafts, putting puzzles together, very smart when it came to math problems, he had a heart of gold and loved helping those who needed help. He never hesitated to put others before himself.

Frank is survived by his father, Elroy (Deborah) Cross; daughters, Suzianna Featherman and Mary Featherman; siblings, Pearl Red Bear of Lincoln, NE, Bryan Red Bear of Omaha, NE, Darren Red Bear of Lincoln, Ne, and Kadin Red Bear of Hannibal, MO, siblings, Natasha Cross, of Topeka, KS, Timothy Cross of Wanblee, SD, Keisha Cross of Lawrence, KS, and Felicia Trejo of Colorado Springs CO; grandpas, Cecil F. Cross, William Bill Cross, and Russell Whirlwind Horse; grandmother, Ruby Cross of Dayton, OH; aunts, Cecile (Milton) Poor Bear, Verna Sanchez, and Cheryl Hudelson; uncles, James (Pam) Cross, John Whirlwind Horse, Michael Whirlwind Horse, Sr., Ronald Cross, and Richard Cross; special cousin-sister, Sandra Sanchez-Leal; cousins, Beatrice Curry, Mike Curry, and Justin Poor Bear; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Susann Red Bear; brothers, Moses Red Bear and Adrian Red Bear; great grandmother, Pearl Whirlwind Horse; great grandfather, Raymond Whirlwind Horse Sr.; beloved grandmothers, Darlene “Granny” Poor Bear, Clara Poor Bear, Angie Reyes, Myrtle Poor Bear, Elaine Martinez, and Verbina Red Bear; grandpas, William Whirlwind Horse and Doug Poor Bear; aunts, Maria Whirlwind Horse and Pauline Whirlwind Horse; uncles, Paul Whirlwind Horse, and Raymond Whirlwind Horse Jr.; cousins, Desmond Poor Bear, Raelynn Whirlwind Horse, and Lavern Curry; and Best Friend, Alton Broken Rope.

Pallbearers will be Albert Broken Rope, Linn Little Whiteman, John “Fat John” Whirlwind Horse, Dave Red Bear, Trevor Red Bear, Timothy Cross, Donald Longman, Jr., and Kadin Red Bear.
