Fur Trade Days And Bands On Bordeaux Both Opening Today

Chadron’s 46th Fur Trade Days celebration begins today with what’s essentially a private event – the arrival of the first black powder enthusiasts to set up the Buckskinners primitive camp about 10-miles southeast of Chadron.

The Buckskinners Camp is open to the public, but organizers ask that if possible, visitors wait at least until tomorrow to come out so that those staying there have a chance to get settled in.

The Chadron Public Library has a busy schedule that begins at 10:30 with Story Time and continues with crafts, a snack of bread and jerky, and a movie aimed at ages 3-9.

Tonight is all about music, starting at 6:00 with the first of this year’s free Bands on Bordeaux concerts at Railroad Park at 1st and Main. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gabby Michna is excited to start the season.

Residents may remember the Devon Worley Band from last summer when they were the last group of the season.

Michna says Bands on Bordeaux follows its traditional schedule of every Thursday in July and one in August with food, vendors, and information booths each week.

The Thursday Fur Trade Days music doesn’t end with the Devon Worley Band; it continues from 9:00 to midnight with Chadron native Alexa Winston on the stage at 2nd and Main.

For those feeling the need to sing themselves, Wild’s Bar and Grill is offering Karaoke from 9:00 to 1:00.
