Funeral services for 78-year old Gary Wayne Bargmann of Bancroft, NE, were held Monday, October 5, 2020, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, with Pastor Nathan Henschen officiating.
Burial with military honors was in the Bancroft Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home, Bancroft.
Gary Wayne Bargmann was born to Ralph and Iola (Karloff) Bargmann on May 13, 1942, at home in Bancroft and died Friday, October 2, 2020, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Gary attended school at Bancroft, graduating in 1962. On March 26, 1964, he enlisted in the army and was stationed at Fort Ord, California. He was discharged May 25, 1964. Following his discharge, Gary worked with his uncle Lloyd Karloff on the farm outside of Beemer.
After two years, he met Connie Iden. They were married on June 21, 1969, and made their home in Bancroft. To this union two wonderful children were born, a daughter, Tricia Lynn, and a son, Jarrod Jay. They lived all their lives in Bancroft.
Gary worked for many years at Corner Service and also at Morrison & Quirk DeHy Plant east of town. He served the community as a firefighter for decades and attained honorary member status. Along with the fire department, he enjoyed going fishing and hunting with his brother, gardening, and caring for the fishpond in his back yard.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Bargmann and Iola Reznicek; father-in-law, Orville Iden; sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Glenn Story; and nephew, Scott Story.
Left to remember his warm whistle and gentle smile are his wife of 51 years, Connie; Gary’s daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Brook Darnell of Bancroft, and their sons, Auston of Bancroft, and Devon of Lincoln; Gary’s son, Jarrod Bargmann of Lincoln, and his children, Derek (Kyrie) of Hay Springs, Taylor of Chadron, and Kayla of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law, Burton and Lesa Bargmann of Bancroft; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Tom Wellman of Beemer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Diana Iden of West Point; mother-in-law, Sylvia Iden of Beemer; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and of course, his dog Lucky.
