Funeral services for 58-year old Gayla Spotted Bear are Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Wolf Creek Episcopal Church in Wolf Creek Community with traditional Lakota services by Ty Lunderman

Burial is at St Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.

A one-night wake service starts Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM, also at the Wolf Creek Episcopal Church.  

Gayla Agnes Spotted Bear “Wicahpi Ogna Waci Win” was born on March 20 1962 in Pine Ridge, SD to Robert Lamont and Maryann Pearl Spotted Bear.  Gayla made her journey to the Spirit World on March 3, 2021 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Gayla is survived by her children, Juliann Spotted Bear, Jennifer Spotted Bear, Thomas Spotted Bear, Kelli Ten Fingers, and Cheyenne Ten Fingers all of Pine Ridge, SD; siblings, Brenda Mesteth of Wolf Creek Community, Bonita “Baby Doll” Ghost Dog of Wanblee, SD, Josephine Standing Soldier, Phillip “Charlie” Standing Soldier, Darrell Standing Soldier and Donald Standing Soldier all of Pine Ridge, SD, Walter “Ed” Standing Soldier of Wolf Creek Community, and Percy White Plume of Manderson, SD; aunts & uncles, Richard & Ethleen Two Dogs of Porcupine, SD, Mary Lou Hawk of Pine Ridge, SD, and Evangeline Taylor of Crawford, NE; grandchildren, Marisol Spotted Bear-Hernandez, Miracle Spotted Bear, Jasinda Ten Fingers, Javier Spotted Bear, Dontae Charging Crow, Naca Charging Crow, Jr., Kingston Charging Crow, Michael Spotted Bear, Canku Ten Fingers, and Tusweca Iyoyanpa Win Charging Crow; and nieces & nephews, Marion, Rosemary, Arlin, Phillip, Tyler, and Benton Rowland, Myron, Duane & Melanie Ghost Dog, Autumn DuBray-Hicks, Verdell & Kenneth Mesteth, Alexandria Red Star, Donita “Bug” Elbow Shield, Jessica, Stephanie, & Daniel Crow, Charlie Jo Little, Timmi & Latitia Poor Bear, Ryan Standing Soldier, Sophie Yellow Boy, Alon, Jr., Donald, Jr., Lacosta, Dominic, Dalton, Eric & Darrelyn Standing Soldier.  

Gayla was preceded in death by her parents, Maryann Pearl Spotted Bear and Robert Lamont; siblings, Kenneth Standing Soldier, Renee “Cookie” Little, Alon Standing Soldier, Sr., James Chief, Virginia “Gina” Morrison, and Ivan Standing Soldier; adopted mother, Geraldine “Goldie” Charging Crow, aunts, Josephine Spotted Bear-Chief and Madeline Yellow Boy-Martin; and grandchildren, Wicahpi Ten Fingers and Brent Thomas Spotted Bear. 

Pallbearers will be Zuya White Plume, Richard Giago, Phillip Rowland, Kenneth Mesteth, Freedom White Plume, Chance Clifford-Black Elk, Javier Spotted Bear, and Dontae Charging Crow.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.
