Funeral services for 76-year old George Jones are Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Chamber-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, NE.
Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery

George B Jones was born on Wednesday, March 29, 1944 to Albert and Mabel (Mathews) Jones. He passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021.
George grew up in Mullen, NE, with his brother Charlie and sisters Mary Jo and Alberta. He attended Mullen High School and continued his education at Chadron State College, earning a degree in education.
On December 31, 1994, George was married to Jacque McConaughey and they began a long and happy life together. They spent their time working, dancing, spoiling their grandchildren and consistently talking about anything and everything, as best friends do.
George was a man of many adventures and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed a day of hard work and spent his time fulfilling that calling in many different fields.
George worked as a teacher in several country schools around Mullen and North Platte, built fences, managed a fairground in North Platte, was a cross-country semi driver, worked for Dyer Feeds in Hyannis, was a mailman, before settling in at Farmers Co-op from 1994 until he retired.
His joy of work and projects continued after retirement when he often could be found in the garage or shed on most sunny days.
George loved telling his life stories and talking to his many friends and neighbors.
Outside of family and friends George loved reading, feeding, and watching his squirrels, antiques and collectibles, and his precious cats Russ and Sissy.
George was a fun-loving jokester and a loyal friend. He was kind, friendly, talkative, and giving. He would give the shirt off his back to help those near and dear to him.
He will be dearly remembered for his joyful smile, big laugh, and love for caring for others, most often presented as cotton roping gloves.
George was preceded in death by his loving parents, Albert and Mabel Jones, sister Alberta Kramer, stepdaughter Tomi McConaughey, nephew Ryan McCune and great nephew Owen Gardiner, and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Jacque, brother Charlie Jones, and sister Mary Jo McCune. His stepchildren Phyllis (Scott) Lindsey and Mike (CaCee) McConaughey. Nephews Eric McCune, Clark McCune, Rusty McCune and Hyde Kramer, nieces Veronica McInerney and Shawna Gardiner. As well as his grandchildren Koltin, Torie, Bailey, Shea, Devon and Kynzee and his 4 great nephews and nieces and 5 great grandchildren.
