Harold Wayne Jacobs was born in Crawford, NE on Aug. 12, 1948. He entered his new life unexpectedly on Dec. 18th, 2021, in the Veterans Hospital in Cheyenne, WY, at the ripe ol’ age of 73.

Harold graduated from Crawford High School in 1966, but had joined the Navy Reserve his senior year of high school and followed in his older brothers’ footsteps by serving 3 honorable years in the Navy.

Throughout high school he spent several summers working for a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska; this is where her found his love of being a cowboy, horses and rodeo.

Somewhere within this timeline, he earned his nickname HUGO. This nickname will continue being a part of his life through our stories of him.

After returning home from the service, he went to work as a truck driver in Scottsbluff, then Casper, and over to Cheyenne where he decided to put down roots with the love of his life. Sandy Stoopman.

Harold loved his quiet little ranch and log home. He preferred having piece and quiet over the chaos of town.

Harold was a man of very few words, but a heart of gold. When he took you in as friend or family. he would show you through his actions. not his words. Never asked anyone for help but would be the first to help.

I will leave you with this, which I feel fits Harold well. Talk low, talk slow and don’t say too much: John Wayne.

Harold is survived by his younger brother Lawrence (Colleen) Jacobs, Niece Jessica (Maclin) Staman and family, Niece Jeana Jacobs (James Brown) and family, Nephew Joshua (Heather) Jacobs and family. His Best Friend Zeke Seegrist and his small circle of good friends.

He joins his loving parents Imogene and Howard Jacobs, Brothers Odell and Linn Jacobs.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Harold Jacobs.

  1. It is with sadness that I send my heartfelt sympathy. There are many special memories of junior high and high school in Crawford with Hugo and what a dear sweet guy he was. Praying God will comfort your family and friends during this time of loss.

  2. I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Hugo leaving us. He was very respectful and thoughtful in the time I spent in school with him. When you lose a classmate who was a quiet leader like Harold, it shows the mortality of us all. Prayers and comfort to his family and those who were close to him.
