Hay Springs’ Emily Nelson has signed her letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA. Clarke is an NAIA school that competes in the Heartland of America Conference.

Nelson helped propel the Hawks to a district runner up finish this last season and the most wins in a season since 2010.

Hay Springs head coach Lisa Merritt said of Nelson, “She really solidified herself as a strong defensive player and all around consistent threat on the court this season. I think Clarke University is lucky to have her.”

She ended the year with 54 kills, 36 ace serves and 282 digs. Nelson had a career high 34 digs in a 5-set win over Sioux County back in October.

Merritt went on to say, “I’m so very proud of Emily. She is not only a good volleyball player but she’s a very talented young lady in so many areas.”

Clarke went 4-23 last season after losing in the conference semifinals in 2021.
