The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a Hot Springs woman was the person killed last Thursday in a one-vehicle accident 19 miles north of Aberdeen that hospitalized 3 women from California.

79-year old Darlene Leigh was a passenger in a van that ran a stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 10 and a county road. She was pronounced dead at the Aberdeen hospital.

The driver, 69-year old Marcene Frazier of Shingletown, lost control of the van when it went through a dip in the intersection. It went through the intersection into the east ditch and hit a tree.

Frasier suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries as did one of the other passengers, 65-year old Cathy Scribner, also of Shingletown. 68-year old Debra Maglietto of Carlsbad received injuries described as life-threatening.

All 4 women were wearing seatbelts and the 3 survivors are apparently recovering. No citations have been issued.
