Irene was the sister of Seth, Henry, Rachael, Woody, Hazel, Delores (Luta), Melissa, Samuel, Vincent, Eula and Michael DuBray and the granddaughter of Charles & Elizabeth (Gipp) DuBray & Jenny (Nelson) and Felix Lone Wolf.

Irene had the reddest hair and the greenest twinkling eyes. She could shawl dance and enjoyed traditional dancing with her family. She had the title of Miss Oglala Nation Sundance. She lived her life to the fullest and had a gypsy soul.

Irene loved to travel and always had a generous heart; she helped all her family and kept many relatives in her home no matter where she was. She loved to dance to country music and was very humorous; most of all she cared and loved all her family & friends. She always teased everyone and had many uplifting stories to tell that made us all laugh with tears.

She married Eldon Dale Mabin and they had three beautiful daughters, Tonya Luta, Irene Rose Jr. and Permillia Dorothy (Angie). They were married for 18 years and traveled from Allen, SD to Seminole, Ok, and onto Scottsbluff, NE.

She helped raise her brother Vincent’s children, Vanice ‘Chepa’ Shearer and Vincent DuBray and her grandson, Ranson ‘Bubba’ Long Pumpkin. Irene’s stepchildren are Sandy & Dale Mabin Jr., Cheryl, Madonna & Mitzie Mabin.

After they divorced, she met and married her sweetheart Richard Gonzalez. They were married for 25 years and raised their grandchildren: Irene Rose Lone Wolf, Leonard Gonzalez and Curtis Mabin. She was the Godmother to Debbie Rose DuBray, Vanice ‘Chepa’ Shearer, Raquel, Joni and Hazel Marie Salomon.

Irene later returned home to Allen and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with the companionship of her friend, Doyle Bad Heart Bull.

There will not be a dry eye because we all have stories and bittersweet memories of a beautiful woman who lived her life to the fullest.
