Loading

This is graduation day for 6 area high schools and for Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff.

Most will livestream their ceremonies with links available on their websites or Facebook pages.

Up first is WNCC, which will present 293 degrees, certificates, and diplomas at its 91st Commencement at 10:00 in the Cougar Palace.

Then it’s Gordon-Rushville at 10:30 in the high school gymnasium in Gordon, followed at 1:00 by Hot Springs in the Case Gym and Chadron in the revamped and renovated high school gym.

Chadron has 69 graduates this year with class colors of black, red, and gold to accompany the class flower of a white carnation with gold and the class song “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay.

The Chadron High Class Motto is a quote erroneously attributed by many to Abraham Lincoln “In the end, it isn’t the year in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.”

Crawford’s 7-member Class of 2023 will be celebrated in the gymnasium. The Class Colors are coral and sage green with the Coral Rose the class flower. The class song is Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fear while the unattributed saying “One step at a time, but always forward” is the class motto.

Hay Springs has a graduating class of 15, including KCSR/KBPY;s own Jett Rasmussen, with retired superintendent and FFA advisor Russell Lechtenburg invited back to the senior to the Lister Sage Community Center as their speaker.

The class flower is the black rose with glitter, the class song is “Good Times Go by Too Fast” by Taylor Scott with a quote by Robert Louis Stevenson the motto ”Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”

The Oelrichs High Class of 2023 will also be recognized in a 2:00 ceremony in the high school gym.
