Funeral services for 26-year old James Lucero are Sat, March 26, 2022 at 11:00 at the Wounded Knee Youth Center in Wounded Knee, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Mr Doug Patton.

Burial is at the Fast Horse Creek Cemetery in Wounded Knee. 

A one-night wake service starts Friday, March 25, at 1:30 at the Wounded Knee Youth Center in Wounded Knee

James Matthew Lucero “Ista Opi” was born on August 17, 1995 in Pine Ridge, SD to Jackson Iron Horse and Phyllis Lucero. James made his journey to the Spirit World on March 13, 2022 at his home in Mills, NE.

James is survived by his daughter, Rosie Lucero; parents, Jackson Iron Horse and Phyllis (Daniel) Lucero; siblings, Jenni (Angel) Carbajal, Joey (Keisha) Carbajal, Jonathon (Mariah) Carbajal, Jessica (Paul) Carbajal, Misun Lucero, Alicia Hess, Anita Lucero, and Daniel Lucero; aunt & uncle, Thomas (Violet) Lucero, Sr. and Albert Lucero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his brothers, Jared Iron Horse and Leon Richards; and grandparents, Lorraine Fast Horse & Matthew Bear Eagle.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon Carbajal, Jose Carbajal, Misun Lucero, Daniel Lucero, Jessica Carbajal, Juanita Carbajal, Alicia Hess, and Anita Lucero.
