Jared Maez Voted Chadron City Employee Of The Year

CHADRON – A worker from the Chadron Parks/Cemetery Department is the Chadron City Employee of the Year. Jared Maez was honored at Monday night’s city council meeting.

Maez was chosen by a vote of all city employees from a field of 3 finalists that also included Evan Baker from Parks/Cemetery and Wade Yada of the Streets Dept.

Employees were nominated each of the first three quarters of the year by their co-workers with City Manager Greg Yanker choosing one finalist per quarter. Yanker says dedication to the job and improving himself were major reasons he picked Maez as a finalists.

The city recognized 9 other employees last night for reaching longevity milestones. Celebrated for 5 years service were retired long-time police officer Chuck James who is now a Handi-Bus driver, Gale Kittell of Communications, and Susan Rolfsmeier from the library.

Reaching 10 years were two Water/Wastewater employees, Ray Thewke and Torey Zuver, while police officers Derek Bauer and Aron Chrisman passed the 15 year mark.
