Graveside services for 71-year old Jerry Jesse Bear Shield Sr are Friday, October 30, 2020 at 12:30 PM at the Bear Shield Family Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Mr Michael Little Boy

Visitation will precede the service Friday from 10:00 till noon at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD.

Jerry Jesse Bear Shield, Sr. was born on January 4, 1949 in Pine Ridge, SD to Matthew Bear Shield and Edna (Blue Bird-Grabbing Bear) Apple.  Jerry made his journey to the Spirit World on October 24, 2020 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY.

Jerry is survived his son, Jerry Bear Shield, Jr.; siblings, Juliana Parra Munoz and Robert Red Shirt; and hunka siblings, Darrell “Chopper” Blue Bird and Marvin Richard.


Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Bear Shield and Edna (Blue Bird-Grabbing Bear) Apple; sons, Robert Bear Shield, Derek Bear Shield, and Cody Bear Shield; siblings, Darrell Spotted Elk, Sr., Francis Grabbing Bear, and Theresa Waters; and nephew, Floriberto (Mijo) Parra Munoz, Jr.


Pallbearers will be Alfred Red Shirt, James “Baby Jim” Richards, Darrell Spotted Elk II, Sage Richard, Ryan Blue Bird, Howard Blue Bird, Brandon Caldwell, Steve Richard, and Filemon Parra Munoz.
