Funeral services for 82-year old Joan Palmier are Tues, Feb 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the St Stephen’s Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD, with Fr. Ron Seminara, S.J., officiating and with traditional Lakota services
Burial is at St Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery in Kyle
Viewing precedes the funeral from 9-till-1:00, also at St Stephen’s Catholic Church.
The family of Joan asks that everyone follow the guidelines of precautions against the spread of COVID 19. Masks are required. Social Distancing is required.
Joan Vernette Palmier “Little Girl” was born on April 25, 1938 in Kyle, SD to William Palmier and Pacific C. (Pulliam) Palmier. Joan made her journey to the Spirit World on January 26, 2021 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Joan is survived by her daughter, June “June Bug” Bad Hand of Rosebud, SD; sons, Richard (Cleo) Palmier, Sr. of Batesland, SD and John Palmier of Rapid City, SD; brother, Robert “Boy Blue” Palmier of Kyle, SD; grandchildren, Gregory Holder of Green Bay, WI, Lanita Palmier of Rainbow Valley, SD, Vanessa Palmier of Rapid City, SD, William (Dacia Dauphinais) Palmier of Pine Ridge, SD, Marcus Palmier of Batesland, SD, Richard (Alicia) Palmier, Jr. of Oglala, SD, Pacific “Grace” Palmier of Rainbow Valley, SD and Jessica McGaa of Rapid City, SD; and 27+ great grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pacific Palmier; brothers, Moses, Dennis “Tubby”, and Theodore “Ted” Palmier, Donroy “Boscoe” Shangreaux; sisters, Renee “Shorty” Janis and Yvonne “Sissy” Merchant; and son, Manuel “Bruce” Bad Hand.
Pallbearers will be Gerard Janis, Wade Janis, William “Billy” Palmier, Sr., Marcus Palmier, Richard “Richie” Palmier, Jr., Gregory Holder, Yankima Holder, Leon Adams, Dorien Red Cloud and Jim Bottomley.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
