Juanita Marie Race Moody was born on September 4, 1926, in Casper, Wyo, the daughter of Frank Harold and Marjorie Angeline Phinney Race. She died in Crawford’s Ponderosa Villa on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 – just 33 days short of 96 years.

Juanita and the family, including her little brother, Keith Walter, moved to Crawford in 1938 and she went on to graduate Valedictorian from Crawford High School in 1944.

A brief experience in a Greeley, CO woman’s college ended with a short engagement, a quick execution of marriage to U-S Navy man, Lloyd Dawson Moody, on June 9, 1945.

Junita followed Lloyd to Seattle, WA and employment in a pharmacy. The official end of WWII on Sep. 2nd, 1945, was actually the preliminary event of the return to Crawford and the city girl’s life was changed to farming and ranching.

The country made an impact along with her involvement in multiple community organizations, John the Baptist Catholic Church family, the world of the entire Moody Clan – comprising the families of 7 brothers and 2 sisters – and her definitely dominated bridge world.

Two children were born: Cassandra J Moody Olson and David Lloyd (Mary) Moody and continue to be survivors along with grandsons Justin David, and Dawson Porter (Alicia) Moody; great grandsons Aaron Lloyd and Trent Jackson and granddaughters Sawyer Adele, Finley Marie, and Piper Jo Moody.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, and her brother Keith and wife Mary Lou Dodd Race, whose family graced her with six nephews and two nieces.

Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home of Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements for Juanita Moody.

  1. Dear Cassie,
I was so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. She was always there to help with class functions and Campfire Girls and so many other things. What wonderful memories you and the family have of such a fine lady.
