Judge Orders Release Of Bullying/Harrasment Report For Cheyenne Schools

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – A Wyoming judge has ordered the Cheyenne school district to release its investigative report on the aftermath of racist and homophobic flyers posted at a Cheyenne junior high school in March of last year, a move that worries the man who refused to release it – Laramie County School District #1 Superintendent Boyd Brown

News organizations and an open-government advocacy group had argued the report detailing the investigation into claims of bullying and harassment at the school after the flyers is a public record and must be released while Brown argued it was covered by attorney-client privilege and should be protected from public release.

The Laramie County judge agreed with the arguments for release, but plans to black out any information that could be used to identity individuals. Brown worries releasing the report might keep students in the future from coming forward or participating in such investigations out of fear that their information could be released to the public.
