Funeral services for 58-year old Karen Rose White Thunder are Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Sharps Corner Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Hadden officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Leonard Crow Dog
Burial Services will be at St. Luke’s Episcopal Cemetery in Sharps Corner, SD
A one-night wake service starts Sunday, July 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM, also at the Sharps Corner Baptist Church
Karen Rose White Thunder was born on September 11, 1961 in Pine Ridge, SD to Kenneth White Thunder and Alice (Pumpkin Seed) White Thunder. Karen made her journey to the Spirit World on July 8, 2020 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Janelle (Ponca) Brewer of Sharps Corner, SD; son, Dwight “Jimmy” Ponca, Jr. of Sharps Corner, SD; siblings, Marty White Thunder, Cindy White Thunder, and Dennis White Thunder, Jr. all of Sharps Corner, SD, and Irma Bad Wound of Wolf Creek, SD; grandchildren, Noa Runs Against, Paige Runs Against, Raelene Ponca, Gabriel Ponca, and Albert Brewer; close nieces & nephews, Alicia Eagleman, Robyn Brant, Jaimie White Thunder, Bobby White Thunder, Jr. all of Sisseton Lake Traverse, Latoya Ramirez and Family and Shelly Longman both of Sioux Falls, SD, Stacey Longman of Gordon, NE, Allison Findlay and Family and Aurora White Thunder both of Sharps Corner, SD, Billy Featherman and Johnathon Tallman both of Allen, SD.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth White Thunder; mother, Alice (Pumpkin Seed) White Thunder; brothers, James White Thunder, Dennis White Thunder, Sr. and Robert “Bobby” White Thunder, Sr.; sisters, Carol White Thunder and Deloris White Thunder; grandparents, Robert Pumpkin Seed, Mable (Eagle Bar) Pumpkin Seed, Albert White Thunder, and Susie (Lone Bull) White Thunder and numerous relatives whom preceded her to the Spirit World.
Pallbearers will be Noa Runs Against, Alden Brewer, Waverly Chief, Mike He Crow, Dwight Ponca, Sr., and Bobby White Thunder, Jr.
