Funeral services for 62-year old Kathy Gladys Elk-Wells are Monday, Feb 15, 2021 at 1:00 at the Wells residence, 483 Wounded Knee Housing in Wounded Knee, SD, with Minister Cyrus Black Elk Sr officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr David Swallow Jr.
Burial is at the First Body of Christ Cemetery in Porcupine, SD
Visitation precedes the funeral from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, also at the Wells residence
Kathy Elk-Wells was born on November 3, 1958 in Pine Ridge, SD to Emerson Elk, Sr. and Gertrude Thunder Horse. Kathy made her journey to the Spirit World on February 6, 2021 at her home in Wounded Knee, SD.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Jealous of Him of Wounded Knee, SD; sons, Jarrett Jealous of Him, Franklin Jealous of Him, Jr., and Delane (Charity) Iron Boy all of Wounded Knee, SD; hunka son, Christian Ramirez of Los Angeles, CA; siblings, Noretta High Hawk of Wounded Knee, SD, Carol Weston of Porcupine, SD, and Fannette Elk of Huron, SD; hunka sisters, Debbie Morrisette of Wakpamni, Bernadine Blue Bird of Batesland, SD, Becky Shepherd of Chicago, IL, Linda Fourd of Mission Flat, and Cora Parker of Wilsonville, AL; sister-in-law, Jerilyn Elk of Wounded Knee, SD; hunka brothers, David (Nyla) Swallow, Jr. and Tony (Marilyn) Wounded Head both of Porcupine, SD; grandchildren, Ethan Mills and Candace Jealous of Him both of Wounded Knee, SD, Trinity Jealous of Him of Georgia, Jarrett Jealous of Him, Jr. of Colorado, Sidney Jealous of Him of Pierre, SD, Patric Jealous of Him of Alliance, NE, Jayden Iron Boy of Ramah, NM, and Braelyn Iron Boy of Wounded Knee, SD; great granddaughter, Zalaya Rooks of Wanblee, SD; and uncle, Robert Thunder Horse, Sr.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson Elk, Sr. & Gertrude Thunder Horse; brothers, Nathan Elk, Jerry Elk, and Emerson Elk, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Arthur Elk & Annie Chief Eagle; maternal grandparents, Alex Paul Thunder Horse & Mary Bad Bear; grandchildren, Xavian and Xavier Iron Boy, and Whisper Longman; aunts, Rosalyn Little Bear, Irene Black Elk, and Florene Red Ear Horse; and uncles, Paul Thunder Horse, Jr., Timothy Thunder Horse, Sr., & Hoover Running Eagle.
