Lady Cardinals Go 1-1 At Sidney Triangular

The Chadron High volleyball team went 1-1 at the Sidney Triangular on Tuesday, falling to Sidney 2-1 and beating Bridgeport 2-0.

The Lady Cardinals took set number one 26-24 in their match against Sidney before the Red Raiders took the last two 25-20 and 25-19.

Anika Burke and Kaycee Kittell each pounded down 7 kills a piece to lead the offensive attack.

Head Coach Blakelee Hoffman said of the Sidney match, “I was very proud of how we played; I thought our serve receive was a lot better and our communication was much better as well. We’ll get em next time!”

Chadron cruised in their match against Bridgeport 25-7, 25-7.

On beating Bridgeport, Hoffman said, “After losing to Sidney, I was so happy with how well we competed. We had very few errors with our offense which is something we need to continue to build upon.”

In her season debut, Tatum Bailey delivered 7 kills to lead the Cards. Bailey was inactive early in the year dealing with injuries, but Hoffman said that Bailey was recently cleared to play.

Chadron is on the road this weekend to the Gothenburg Harvest Festival Tournament. The Cardinals will play host Gothenburg, York, and St.Paul on Friday. Saturday’s schedule includes Ogallala, Minden, and Aurora.
