Last Of Area Wildfires Controlled, But Dry Weather Continues

According to the Great Plains Fire Information website, the last of the area wildfires that sprang up over the week from lightning driven storms last weekend was considered controlled on Thursday afternoon.

The Windmill North CA Fire ten and a half miles southwest of Crawford in Sioux County was listed as controlled by 3:45 pm on Thursday. The fire had minimal growth at just 1.5-acres.

It was one of eight fires that have been reported and extinguished over the past eight days in Dawes and Sioux County.

Favorable fire weather is a threat on Saturday according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne with winds gusting up to 20 to 30 mph around the region and relative humidity at just 10 to 15 percent.
