Live WII Grenade And 2 Artillery Shells Found In Norfolk Museum

NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) – A police bomb squad and military explosive experts had to be called to a museum in Norfolk on Wednesday after live ordnance that included a World War II grenade and two artillery shells was found in a storeroom.

Staff at the Elkhorn Valley Museum shut down the facility and colled Norfolk police as soon as they discovered the explosives. Police officers were unable to determine if the vintage ordnance was live, so they called the Nebraska State Patrol bomb squad.

The bomb squad determined that some of the items were indeed live and called the Nebraska Air National Guard explosive ordnance disposal team to help.
