Local Baseball & Softball Seasons Can Start June 1st

The last two days have been up and down for baseball and softball teams looking to start their seasons up amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Sunday the national headquarters for American Legion Baseball made the decision to suspend seasons for the remaining 25 states that hadn’t already canceled this year.

On Monday, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts announced that organized baseball and softball could begin practices on June 1st and start competitions on June 18th.

Several area teams, including the Chadron Legion baseball program, has indicated that they are in the process of organizing a season with other regional teams that will not played under the American Legion banner.

When those decisions are made known we will pass along that information.
