Locally-Filmed Movie Thriller Gets World Premiere Tonight In Gordon

Loading

A motion picture thriller filmed largely in this area, and with several area actors in the cast has its world premiere tonight at 7:00 at the Gordon Theater.

Fortress of Sin has won several awards at  international awards at festivals including Best Feature Film at the Eastern Europe Film Fest

Gordon-Rushville High School music and theater teacher Ryan Lovell was an Assistant Director of Fortress of Sin and acted in it as well. He says tonight’s world premiere will include a taste of Hollywood.

Fortress of Sin is from Ragged Sky Productions and the trio of comedy-horror cult favorite Paul Chomicki, who wrote the script, his frequent collaborator Dave Campfield, and filmmaker Christian Voss – who now lives in Sheridan County.

Lovell says he was brought into the enterprise by Voss about 3-½ years ago after changes to the original screenplay moved the setting from North Carolina to Nebraska and the story from a father losing a daughter to a cult to losing her to sex traffickers.

Lovell says Fortress of Sin marks a big change in style and focus for Voss, Chomski, and Campfield with a much more serious approach to a serious problem.

While Lovell has extensive stage acting experience with the Sheridan County Players and other groups, he’d been in only one film and jumped at the chance to be in front of a camera again. His local theater connections help bring in other local actors.

Lovell says Fortress of Sin is just the first of what he and Ragged Sky Productions hope will be a number of movies shot in this area.

Fortress of Sin is available on DVD and streaming starting June 7 at Amazon and Best Buy through Wild Eye Releasing, and Lovell says the expectation is that it will also be available through other streaming outlets shortly.
