Lorainne Alexander -update

Memorial services will be held at a later date for 88-year old Lorainne Alexander of Gordon, NE. 

A memorial has been established for the C.A.R.E. cancer support program.

Lorainne Alexander was born in Indianapolis, IN, on June 25, 1932, to Milton and Vae (Walls) Sanderfer. She passed away at Gordon Memorial Hospital on February 9, 2021. 

Lorainne’s family came to Gordon by covered wagon with the Scamahorn Colony and she attended Gordon High School, graduating in 1950.

Lorainne was united in marriage to Donald W Alexander in June of 1951. To this marriage 5 children were born:  Mark, Kim, Jeff, Marty and Kris.

Lorainne worked at Saults & Son Drug for 20 years, then at Gordon Memorial Hospital as a surgical tech, and at the Gordon Clinic before moving to Nampa, Idaho in 1984.  

Lorainne returned to Gordon after the death of her husband and rejoined Gordon Memorial Hospital, where she remained until she retired.

Lorainne was active in the community. She received the Curved Bar Award, the highest award in Girl Scouts, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was active in Eastern Star.

She loved animals and enjoyed landscaping and lawn work, but especially enjoyed sewing and making quilts for her grandchildren. 

Lorainne was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Don, her son Mark and grandson Brian (Alexander) Gwynn, and friend Dale Hull.

She is survived by her sister Charleen (Hare) Wood, her daughter Kim (Dwight) Deaver, her son Jeff (Cassie) Alexander, her son Marty (Lori) Alexander, her daughter Kris (Chad) Fowler, and her daughter-in-law Janice Alexander. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren including: Marti Jo, Lori, Tess, Brack, Kolton, Krystyl, D.J. , Scarlett, Bree, Kati, Jaymi, Brandi, Jeni,16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
