A one-night wake service starts Monday, July 18, at noon at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala
Louise Mae (Porcupine) Stands was born on March 1, 1948 in Pine Ridge, SD to Joseph & Emma (No Fat) Porcupine. Louise made her journey to the Spirit World on July 10, 2022 at the Hennepin Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Louise is survived by her sons, Homer Stands Jr and Perry Stands; sibling Gilmore T; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband Homer N Stands Sr; parents Joseph & Emma (No Fat) Porcupine; daughters Juanita Stands and Alanna Stands; siblings Ramona E, Samuel B, George N, Aaron F, Kenneth J, and Rebecca P; and numerous friends & family she held close to her heart.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Stands, Wambli Black Lance, Marcus Jones, Burton Warrior, Sylas Grey Cloud, and Shaun Kihegs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Waylon Stands Jr, Dominic Stands, Ray Dorf, Francis Tobacco, Floyd Brings Plenty, Edward Star Comes Out, Ed Stands, Marc Zimiga, Gregory White Dress, Tildew Porcupine, Waylon Stands, Michael Warrior, and All Friends & Relatives.
