Man Wounded By Omaha Police Had Gun But Didn’t Fire

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Omaha police say the man who had a police bullet graze his ear as he fled a traffic stop Thursday evening had a gun but never fired it.

22-year-old Marcel Turner remains in custody in the Douglas County jail.

Turner was a passenger in a car stopped by an officer in north Omaha. The officer smelled marijuana and called for backup, but Turner ran from the scene when other officers arrived.

The officers said they thought he had a gun because of the way he ran with his hand tucked close to his abdomen, leading one officer to fire with his bullet just grazing Turner’s ear.
