A one-night wake service starts Friday, Feb 10, at 5:00 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium with evening services and Rosary starting at 7:00.

Martin Wayne Pourier was born on November 13, 1970, in Porcupine, SD to Thomas Pourier Sr and Thelma Janis-Pourier.  Marty made his journey to the Spirit World on February 2, 2023 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.

Marty graduated from Black Hills State University in the fall 1994 with his Bachelor of Science Degree. 

Marty was an avid musician and information technologist who worked at various schools throughout his lifetime, including the Wounded Knee District School, Red Cloud School, Porcupine School, and most recently, the Pine Ridge School.

Marty is survived by his son Jace Pourier-Runs Against; mother Thelma Pourier of Porcupine; siblings Jeannie Pourier and Thomas (Paula) Pourier, both of Porcupine; Janet (Sidney) Pourier of Batesland, SD, Carla (Calvin) Pourier-Ghost Bear of #4 Community, Cheryl (Russell) White Eyes, Lawrence Pourier, and Gwendolyn Pourier, all of Porcupine; aunts Georgia Pourier of Porcupine, Juanita Witt of Kyle, SD, Lavonne Mesteth of Manderson, SD, and Wilma Witt of Kyle; grandfather Wilbur Witt of Kyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marty was preceded in death by his father Thomas Pourier Sr; paternal grandparents Eugene and Maggie Pourier; maternal grandparents Lawrence Janis and Ethel Red Owl-Witt; uncles James Bub Pourier, Ted Pourier Sr, and Sidney Pourier; aunts June Rosales, Loretta Bull Bear, Rachel Mesteth; and brother Eric Pourier.

Pallbearers will be Joe Linehan, Bernard Smallwood, Dennis White Thunder, Bill Ringing Shield, Orville Oldson, Louis Vocu, Alan Wounded Foot, Ted Pourier Jr, Stewart Mousseaux, and Murray American Horse.
