Marvin D. Roth was given life by his creator and was born July 8, 1934, in Batesland, SD. He went to his eternal home in the arms of Christ  on October 24, 2021, at Gordon Memorial Hospital

The oldest child of Levi and Edna Roth, Marv publicly confessed his faith, was confirmed, and baptized June 8, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an active member of his church for over 60 years.

Marv entered the active-duty US Army March 19, 1954. After serving in Korea and completing his service in the Army Reserve, he was honorably discharged February 28, 1962.

Marv married his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Marlys Suhr, on November 4, 1956, and they blessed with the gift of three children: Adele (Kenny) Shepardson, Jill (Randy) Langemeier and Troy (Jackie) Roth.

He was also blessed with 9 grandchildren: Kevin Shepardson, Chad Shepardson, Travis (Kayla) Shepardson, Shelly (Shawn) Eisenreich, Stacy (John) Girard, Scott (Mani) Langemeier, Mitch (April) Roth, Eric (Sharla) Roth, Ashley (Evan) Bartels and 20 great-grandchildren complete his loving family. Siblings Dick (Wanda) Roth, Janice Flueckinger, brother-in-law Lyle Suhr, sister-in-law Neva (Dean) Bruce and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marv loved the land and successfully operated the Roth Farm with Marlys, Troy, Adele and Jill helping. In his retirement years he enjoyed helping third and fourth generation Roth farmers Troy and Jackie and Eric and Sharla.

Marv served on the LaCreek Electric and Farmer’s Co-op Board of Directors for many years.

He was very competitive and enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards with friends, but hunting and fishing with his family were things he loved.

Marv and Marlys enjoyed traveling to their children and grandchildren’s activities because family was very important to Marv, who will be deeply missed.
