Masks Being Required At Ellsworth AFB Commissary And PX

ELLSWORTH AFB, S.D. (AP) – All customers and employees at the Ellsworth Air Force Base commissary and Army and Air Force Exchange facilities are being required to wear face coverings to help limit the spread of the coronavirus. The base is expecting a shipment of face masks for distribution to Ellsworth personnel next week.

The Defense Commissary Agency announced Thursday that the new policy making face masks mandatory for facilities worldwide would start Friday, but the commander of the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth delayed imposition until Saturday to make sure everyone was aware of the change.

The South Dakota Department of Health reports that 447 people in the state had tested positive for COVID-19 as of Thursday, including 8 cases originating in the counties immediately adjacent to Ellsworth.
