Funeral services for 74-year old Maynard Cortier are Thurs, Dec 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Cortier residence 8 miles North on Hwy 18 on Wilson Road in the #4 Community with Hermus Poor Thunder officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Richard Broken Nose
Burial services are at the Cortier Family Cemetery in #4 Community
A one-night wake runs Wed, Dec 2, from 11:30 AM-4:00 PM, also at the Cortier residence in #4 Community.
Maynard George Cortier was born on December 31, 1945 in Pine Ridge, SD to George Cortier and Pearl Red Bear-Lakota. Maynard made his journey to the Spirit World on November 29, 2020 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Maynard is survived by his wife, Lila Cortier; daughters, Amber & Tracy Cortier; sons, Harley, Wayne, Adrian, & Carl Cortier; sisters, Harriett White Face and Nellie Lakota; brother, Lester Cortier, Sr.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
Maynard was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Red Breath Bear; father, George Cortier; sisters, Jerilyn Cortier-Fast Wolf, Audrey Lakota, and Wanda Lakota; and brothers, Gilbert Lakota, Stacy Cortier, and Charles Cortier.
Pallbearers will be Pat Two Bulls, Jordan Cortier, Shungila Johnson, Willis Lakota, Dan McClung, DJ Johnson, Stan Walking, Sr., Mr Cortier, Sonny Wilson, and DJ Cortier.
Honorary pallbearers will be all relatives & friends.
