Instead of graveside services on Friday, April 9, 2021, funeral services for 25-year old Michael Allen Hand will be held that day at 5:00 PM at Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Erroll “Scotty” Brown Eyes
Burial is still at the Hand/White Cow Killer Family Cemetery, Red Cloud Community, Pine Ridge
Visitation precedes the funeral from 10:30 – 5:00, also at the Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge.
Michael Allen Hand “Wanbli Luzahan” was born on August 30, 1995 in St. Paul, MN to Irby Hand and Wendy (Beasley) Hand. Michael made his journey to the Spirit World on April 3, 2021 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Michael is survived by his siblings, Bethany Hand of St. Paul, MN, Jesse Hand, Sr., Rachael Hand, Jake Hand, Annabelle Hand, Daniel Hand, and Samuel Hand all of Pine Ridge, SD; hunka mother, Betty Watters of Pine Ridge, SD; hunka brother, Brent Janis of Rushville, NE; hunka sister, Donnelle Watters of Rapid City, SD; maternal grandmother, Beverly Beasley of Hopkins, MN; aunts, Natalie Hand of Oglala, SD, Starlette Fills The Pipe of Red Cloud Community, Carrie Owen of Welch, MN, and Donna Blue Bird of Duluth, MN; uncles, Pete Fills The Pipe of Red Cloud Community and Erroll “Scotty” Brown Eyes of Slim Buttes, SD; sister-cousin, Marlene Piper of Rapid City, SD; special friend, Gage Binger of Sioux Falls, SD; Brenda Trujillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Irby & Wendy (Beasley) Hand; hunka grandmother, Lenora Watters; uncles, Floyd Hand, Jr., Elton Hand, Joe Brown Eyes, and Arthur Owen; aunt, Arlene (Hand) Jones; niece, Jorgia Hand; paternal grandparents, Floyd Scotty Hand, Sr., Marion White Cow Killer-Hand, Zona (Young Man Afraid of His Horses) Fills The Pipe, and Sadie (Young Man Afraid of His Horses) Janis; and maternal grandfather, Roger Beasley.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Hand, Sr., Jake Hand, Samuel Hand, Daniel Hand, Maza Hand, Jesse Hand, Jr., Kevin Apple, Jr., and Moses Mahto.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sunka Sapa Tiospaye Sundance, Wolf Creek School & Pine Ridge School Special Education, Nurse Rashad & ICU Staff of Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, and all friends & relatives.
