Minnesota Man Victim in July 22 Motorcycle/Pick Collision South Of Keystone

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a Minnesota man was the motorcycle rider killed last Wednesday afternoon when he collided with a pickup on Iron Mountain Road about 7 miles south of Keystone.

The name of 58-year old Dean Schwendeman of Villard had been withheld pending notification of family.

The Highway Patrol says Schwendeman was westbound a little after 1:00 when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and his Harley Davidson went into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a pickup driven by 41-year old Shannon Hassey of Rye, Colorado.

Schwendeman, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene while Hassey and her passenger, 41-year old Philip Hassey, were both wearing seat belts and were not injured.
