Motorcyclist Killed In Sturgis Area Crash

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally may have ended nearly 2 weeks ago, but the area is still attracting riders and fatal accidents.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 60-year old motorcycle rider was killed about 10:30 Wednesday night on Highway 14 roughly 5-miles west of Sturgis. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Highway Patrol says the man was eastbound when his bike went off the roadway and hit the guardrail on the south side of the road. The impact threw him from the motorcycle and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
