Funeral services for 83-year old Myrna Horst of Crawford are Friday, Jan 20, 2023 at 2:00 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crawford with Pastor James Rockhill officiating.

Burial will be in the Crawford Cemetery. 

A memorial has been established for Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Myrna Joyce Horst was born on February 14, 1939 in Denver, CO, to Thomas Arundel & Marguerite Sandoz Arundel Caparoon. She passed away on January 10, 2023 at Chadron Community Hospital.

Myrna attended school in Rushville, NE, but didn’t complete her GED until 1999 when she was 60.

Myrna married Lawrence Horst on September 13, 1955, in San Jose, Ca. and had 3 daughters: Rhonda, Sandra, and Deborah.

Myrna held several jobs in Crawford, including positions at the Crawford Hospital, Fort Robinson State Park, The Chief, and West Plains Grain Co. She and Lawrence later opened their own business, Horst Service Company. 

Myrna was deeply involved with Bethlehem Lutheran Church, participating in the LWML women’s group, teaching Sunday School, and attending Bible Studies. She loved music, dancing, summer, yard work, and visiting with family and friends.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Arundel & Marguerite Caparoon (Sandoz) and brother Tom Arundel.

Myrna is survived by her daughters Rhonda (Lee) Miller (Crawford), Sandra (Rick) Carrisosa (Ranch Cucamonga, CA), and Deborah Horst (Crawford); sisters: Donna Scott (Ogden UT), Yvonne Lister and brother Vic Arundel (Corvallis OR, half-brothers & sister: Michael Arundel (Ogden UT), Tony Arundel (Blackfoot ID), and Willie Herzinger (Pheonix AZ); grandchildren: Kimberli Walker, Brian Miller, Angie Yellowhorse, Jeffrey Sinclair and Shawna Harrer; great-grandchildren: Derek Yellowhorse, Amber Yellowhorse, Nathan Harrer, Katelyn Walker, Autumn Yellowhorse, Sarah Walker, Marley Harrer, Sierra Sinclair and Wyatt Sinclair, Morgan Miller, and Alexis Miller.

  1. I am so sorry to hear that Myrna has passed. I remember her patience when we would be at the house making way too much noise. Love to all of you girls.
