UNION CENTER, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the two South Dakota men involved in a two-vehicle crash about 7:45 Saturday morning west of Union Center that left one of them dead.
26-year old Blake Williams of Piedmont was eastbound on Hwy 34 about 5 miles from Union Center when his older model compact crossed the center line into the path of a semi pulling an empty gravel trailer.
The two vehicles collided and Willaims, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The truck driver, 57-year old Melvin Frank of Lemmon was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol
