Names Released in Grain Elevator Shooting In Superior

      The Nebraska State Patrol says a man who was fired from a grain elevator in Superior, in the south-central part of the state, returned Thursday afternoon and shot 3 people, killing 2 of them, before he was fatally shot by another employee. 

      61-year-old Max Hoskinson of Superior died at the hospital in Superior.

One of his victims, 60-year-old Sandra Nelson of Formoso, KS, died at the scene while 53-year-old Darin Koepke of Hadar, NE, died at a Lincoln hospital after being treated in Superior. 

       The third victim was treated at the Superior hospital and released. All 3 were employees of the Agrex Elevator.

      Authorities have not released the wounded person’s name or that of the employee who shot Hoskinson, due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Authorities say no charges are expected against the employee who fired the fatal shot.

    The State Patrol says Hoskinson was fired by Agrex Thursday morning, came back to the elevator around 2 p.m. with a pistol and began firing, Another employee was able to retrieve a shotgun from the office and fatally wounded Hoskinson

     Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement calling the news of the shootings “shocking and devastating,’ adding that he and his wife are praying for the victims and their families.
