Nebraska Prison Inmate Dies In Hospital After Testing Positive For COVID-19

The Nebraska Dept of Correctional Services says a prisoner in his 60s died at a Lincoln hospital on Wednesday, about 3 weeks after testing positive for COVID-19.

Officials did not release the inmate’s identity but said he was serving time for a robbery conviction in Seward County.

They also say he had underlying medical conditions, but that the exact cause of death hasn’t been confirmed.

A grand jury will investigate the death, as is required under Nebraska law anytime someone dies in custody or while being arrested.
