New Victim, New Charges For Man Just Convicted Of Raping 3 Girls Under 13

A man convicted last week in Rapid City of 3 counts of 1st-degree rape for assaulting 3 girls under the age of 13, now faces similar charges involving a fourth girl.

38-year old Teddy Guzman, whose first trial ended in a hung jury late last year, faces up to life in prison for each conviction when he’s sentenced later this year.

Pennington County prosecutors say investigators learned about the new victim in 2017, but she wasn’t ready to testify when the other 3 cases first went to trial last year.

The new charges filed Wednesday accuse him of sexually assaulting the girl in 2015 and 2016 when she was 13 and 14.

Guzman’s trial alleged multiple assaults between January 2015 and December 2017. The victims were 9, 10, and 5 or 6 when they were molested.
