South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she will relaunch the state’s review of social studies standards after it was bogged in controversy.
New standards are released every seven years.
Noem says she has “set aside” the standards proposed by the Department of Education and told the department to restart the process.
She also says everyone who has expressed concern about the process will be included in the do-over including Native Americans leaders who said the proposed standards wiped out nearly all Native American history
