RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – A man who pleaded guilty to stealing a number of guns from a hardware store in Martin, SD, has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison.
26-year-old Sidney Marshall will spend 3 years on supervised release after finishing his sentence and will also pay restitution.
Marshall accepted a plea agreement, in part because a prior domestic violence incident that took away his right to have a gun threatened a much longer sentence.
A defendant normally appears in person for sentencing, but Marshall waived that right and appeared via video link from the Pennington County Jail because of the coronavirus pandemic.
